If You Use Extra Virgin Olive Oil Here’s The Research Which May Prove It Not As ‘Heart Healthy’ As You Might Have Thought

I have been going back and forth with EVOO for quite some time. The reports of it being healthy for you are very conflicting. What does one do when he sees one doctor saying it’s good for you and the other says it harms you? What is it with all the doctors disagreeing?

I don’t know. Some are heart surgeons, and they even disagree with one another. Who do you believe? What I do is listen to what my body is telling me after I use olive oil. Do I want artery damage [1]? I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to chance it.

I didn’t use just any. I bought ones that supposedly had more polyphenols than others. But you can get your polyphenols from other sources like berries which have little fat. You don’t need EVOO to get it from. I just kept having doubts about using olive oil on my salad and frying. Yes, it tastes good but then snack and junk food does too.

A good olive oil has a peppery aftertaste. I did my test with Tunisian and Moroccan olive oils, and they tasted good and were traceable back to the farms where the olives were picked. But some others around the world may cut their oils by adding certain seed oils which means you are not getting the product you thought you paid for.

I also bought bottles from two California olive oil producers. They also were very good. You could also trace the oil back to particular farms. One has to know what he is getting for what he pays for, right? But then cardiovascular health keeps nagging me. It keeps coming up that oil is oil is oil and that EVOO is not the exception [2].

I don’t want to take any chances with using any oils in my diet. Who wants extra arterial plaque [3]? Not me. But then there is research that I see substitutes one fat for another. Seems like a juggling act like a shell game.

I do limit seeds and nuts and think some may be more inflammatory triggers for me than others. But am not completely sure at this time [4]. Yet, I have to conclude through all the hype, conflicting information, and my own doubts about how healthy olive oil is (or is not) that I should protect myself from any cardiovascular damage by not using any oils at all [5]. In ending, in my opinion, (and through reading the prevailing research below) a very low-fat diet using no EVOO nor any other oil is most healthy.
